🎨 Beauty of Joseon’s tinted sunscreen 🎨

I usually don’t like tinted sunscreens, because they don’t really account for the amount of sunscreen you need to apply. They are too pigmented, and at the correct amount they simply don’t look good. I hoped a Korean brand would do it better, but unfortunately that didn’t happen 🫠

This is Beauty of Joseon’s Tinted Mineral Dayscreen, a mineral sunscreen based on zinc oxide, with SPF30 and PA+++, meaning protection against both UVA and UVB.

As for the ingredients:

✅ Ceramide NP — to support the skin barrier.

✅ Fermented rice and propanediol — for extra hydration.

✅ Iron oxides — the pigments that give the product its color.

✅ No fragrance, essential oils, or drying alcohol.

The brand describes light to medium coverage that can be built in layers, but at the amount you need to apply for sunscreen, it is ridiculously pigmented on me. You can’t go out of the house like that 😂

And that is exactly my problem with products like this. To get the SPF stated on the packaging, you need to apply enough product. A rule of thumb for the face and neck is about half a teaspoon, around 2.5 ml, although the exact amount depends on the size of the area. You can’t apply just a little so the coverage looks good and assume you got the protection stated on the packaging.

To their credit, they have an amazing range of 15 shades, including very deep shades, which is far from a given for a Korean brand. Choosing your shade is tough, though. I tried to work it out from the photos and chose 23N, which is a relatively good match for me but a little too orange.

For me, it simply doesn’t work as my main sunscreen. As a BB cream over another sunscreen, applied in the right amount, I think it’s great. I would simply treat it as makeup with SPF and not rely on it alone for sun protection.
