For a long time you asked me for a sunscreen stick recommendation. I avoided trying because the concept always sounded bad to me. There are several problems here - how do I know that I put enough sunscreen on the gum? How do I disinfect the stick between uses? How do I apply evenly even in places like nose and eyes (which are hard to reach with the stick)?

In the end, you convinced me to try it, so I ordered the Isntree stick and Beauty of Joseon.

After a period of use, I formed an opinion on stick protection. I'll start with my opinion on Stick in general and then I'll talk about Isntree's Stick.

What do I think about stick protection?

Disadvantages:

1. My main problem with stick protection is that I don't trust that it really protects me. The "official" recommendation is to go over each area at least 4 times, but I never felt that enough material came out of the stick for it to do anything, even if I go over 10 times.

Then I also saw a video by Michelle Malav Muffin (cosmetic chemist) who measured that it is very difficult to get an SPF30 or higher protection gum. You need much more than 4 passes, and then it already looks bad on the skin.

I will never rely on a stick as my main defense, only for innovations, and even with that I don't feel safe.

2. With a stick it is very easy to miss small places like around the eye.

3. Many times the stick irritated me and I was red after using it. Feels a bit like physical exfoliation. It pulls the skin and irritates it and I wasn't aggressive.

4. I don't always have time to disinfect the stick with paper, and it can accumulate bacteria, which is very problematic for someone with acneic skin like me.

Advantages:

1. There is no doubt that it is convenient to use and less dirty. If you are shy to renew protection in public or you don't have time to wait for all the sunscreen to absorb, the stick does not leave a noticeable white cast or look bad at any reapplication.

2. Convenient for trips or times when you can't clean your hands before.

3. Stick should be friendly to sensitive eyes. My eyes are not sensitive so I can't testify, but if yours are then it's worth trying a stick.

4. Renew on makeup - I don't know if to define it as an advantage, but you can renew over makeup with a stick. It doesn't completely leave all the makeup in place so adjust your expectations. But let's talk about Isntree's stick:
