First of all, what is retinol?
Retinol is pure vitamin A and is from the retinoid family. Retinoids are actually different derivatives of vitamin A. When applied to the skin, they help speed up the rate of skin turnover and thus help with a variety of skin problems such as treating and preventing wrinkles, lightening pigmentation and treating acne. Its side effects are not simple, it can be very drying and cause irritation and peeling at first. It can take a long time to see results from it, sometimes half a year - a year. Note that retinoids should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding!
This retinol cream is defined as an eye cream and I really only use it for the eyes, but there's no stopping it from being used all over the face. I only use it for the eyes because on the rest of the face I use another retinoid - Adeline, which can be too harsh for the delicate skin around the eyes, and I wanted to start with retinol in the eyes to delay the wrinkles as much as possible.
In the first few days it irritated the skin under my eyes. I was really burning and red that looked bad and I said thank you to the concealer god😂 but after a few days the skin got used to it as if nothing had happened.
Retinol can thicken the skin and thus also help with dark circles under the eyes if they arise from thin skin, which is the case with me. I've been using it for two months and a bit, which is not that much, and so far I haven't seen a big change, maybe very little. If it still changes I will update.
I use it to prevent wrinkles, I don't have wrinkles at the moment, so I can't testify to a change in wrinkles.
Its texture is really nice and moisturizing, not heavy at all but not gel either, something in the middle. My mom also started using it, not just for the eyes but for the whole face and she loves it.
Besides retinol (in an unknown percentage) the cream contains many other amazing ingredients that I really like!
*Rice oil - contributes to moisture, antioxidant.
*Green tea - calms the skin, reduces redness and irritation, antioxidant.
*Some types of peptides - contribute to moisture and there is even a little research on them that they can encourage the creation of collagen and thus help with wrinkles.
*hyaluronic acid - attracts moisture to the skin.
*Romanian Chamomile Oil - It is technically an essential oil, but it is perhaps the only essential oil that does not irritate and even soothes the skin and can restore it.
*Caffeine - an antioxidant, can reduce swelling under the eyes and help reduce the appearance of veins and thus reduce dark circles under the eyes.
It is not perfumed, but it does have a subtle smell that doesn't bother me (probably from the ingredients). Without alcohol or irritating essential oils.
The brand is cruelty-free 🐰❤️
