What is niacinamide?
Niacinamide is basically vitamin B3. It is one of the most loved ingredients, especially by those with oily skin, because it regulates the secretion of sebum in the skin (the sebum our skin produces). In addition to this, it is also good for pigmentation, reduces redness, good for acne, enlarged and black pores, rosacea... in short, a magic ingredient that many love.
I'll admit that I didn't really like this serum from The Ordinary, for two reasons:
1. The concentration of niacinamide in this serum is too high - 10%. In all the studies that tested niacinamide it was at a concentration of 5%, and it turns out that this is enough to get all its benefits. The high concentration in this serum is not suitable for all skin types, can irritate the skin, and more than once I have seen posts on Facebook of people who experienced an outbreak after using this serum. It didn't happen to me, but it should also be taken into account.
2. Its texture - the serum is very thick and sticky. Sometimes it makes a little foam on the skin, and sometimes it also dribbles. This means that I can't use it in the morning routine, only in the evening routine, and of course you can't put makeup on it.
On the other hand, this serum only costs NIS 20. For this price you can totally forgive the texture. The product is really excellent and high quality for the cheap price. This is the beauty of The Ordinary - cosmetics at very accessible prices. Something that many are looking for especially in this crazy time.
