The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating Toner

What is glycolic acid?

Glycolic acid is an acid from the alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) family. It is made from natural sources high in sugar such as sugar cane, pineapple, melon and grapes. The glycolic acid can penetrate the skin and do chemical peeling - that is, it helps in shedding dead skin cells. This acid is mainly good for improving the appearance and texture of the skin, for example - acne scars, wrinkles, and keratosis pilaris (bumps on the skin). In addition, glycolic acid is effective in the treatment of pigmentation and acne, and helps to make the skin look radiant and healthy. This acid is not the most gentle acid available and is therefore not suitable for those with sensitive skin. It is better to start with a low dose (for example 5%) and with a low frequency (twice a week) and slowly increase the frequency and dose according to how your skin reacts.

The acid increases the sensitivity of the skin to the sun, so it is important to use sunscreen (although it is always important with or without the acid). You will start to see the real results from glycolic acid only after two or three months of persistence, so be patient 🤗

And now we will talk about this specific toner - this toner contains 7% glycolic acid. In addition, it contains ingredients that reduce the irritation from the acid and sedative ingredients. The toner is non-sticky, quickly absorbed, odorless. When I tried it on my face, I didn't feel any irritation or tingling, so I think the toner is also suitable for beginners (but you should always test on a small spot on the neck first). I chose to use the toner specifically for the skin of the body and not for the face - I use it on the skin behind the arm that has texture. Until now I have noticed that the redness has decreased significantly but the texture is still there, I have only been using it for a month and a half in this area of the body and believe that the results will even improve in the future.

The amount here is large (240 ml) and the price is about NIS 30 on most sites - really, really worthwhile!

You can buy The Ordinary products at Sephora Britannia, Beauty Bay, Look Fantastic, Cult Beauty, ASOS, the hut and more.

Update: Estee Lauder has purchased more than half of The Ordinary's shares. Estee Lauder is a company that tests on animals. Which means Estée Lauder profits from every purchase of The Ordinary. Therefore, unfortunately according to my standards I can no longer refer to The Ordinary as "cruelty-free" 🐰💔 for your consideration.
