sunscreen from the French company SVR. I previously reviewed another of their sunscreens and didn't like it because it was too greasy, but I decided to give them another chance.
The cream is based on 5 old and new generation chemical filters, SPF50+. The cream is designed for acneic/oily skin, and according to the manufacturer's promise, it is supposed to balance oiliness and give a "matte" look, and I guess that's why they added niacinamide, salicylic acid and PHA to the formula.
Niacinamide is a ingredient that can help with a variety of skin problems - balance the sebum production, maintain and strengthen the skin barrier, clarify, reduce redness, treat acne and reduce the appearance of pores. The cream has 4% niacinamide, which is an excellent percentage.
Gluconolactone- a type of PHA, gently exfoliates the skin and helps in shedding dead cells.
The salicylic acid dissolves in oil, penetrates deep into the pores and cleans them, thus it is very effective for those with oily skin and for treating acne, preventing blackheads and reducing the appearance of prominent pores. It also chemically exfoliates. The percentage of salicylic is not published.
This is the first time I've come across a sunscreen that contains an active ingredient, and I'm not sure I liked the concept. Salicylic acid can be very irritating and drying, and it is effective enough even in soap once a day or even 3 times a week. We put a large amount of sunscreen, and apply it to delicate areas like around the eyes, and also reapply several times a day. I'm not sure that this frequency of salicylic is particularly healthy. I believe it could be suitable for people with very oily skin.
The cream contains fragrance, although only at the end of the list, but the smell is noticeable and to my taste it is not particularly pleasant.
Honestly, it might not be correct to call it a cream, because it is completely liquid, just like Shaka Floyd by La Roche-Posay. One of the problems with it is that it is very very sticky, I assume it is water resistant but I don't see that they mention it on their website.
It's not really matte like they claim it is, it's not that shiny either, looks relatively natural (but doesn't feel natural, very sticky).
All in all, I didn't particularly like it, I've seen better sunscreens. I think it is more suitable for those with very oily and not sensitive skin at all, or only for the beach / trips. You can purchase it at care to beauty.
