SKIN1004 - Madagascar Centella Probio-Cica Bakuchiol Eye Cream

After trying and loving most of the brown series of skin1004 probiotics, I decided to try the eye cream from that series as well, but this product reminded me exactly why I don't (mostly) like eye creams.

As great as the ingredients in this cream are and the texture is pleasant, there is no unique ingredient here that contributes something specific to the eye area. They took a completely normal cream, put it in a small vial with less than half the amount, and marketed it as an eye cream. In fact, that's probably exactly what they did, because apart from bakuchiol and the Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 peptide, I don't see a significant change between the ingredients of their eye cream and their moisturizer. As expected, I also saw no change in the skin around my eyes even after a few weeks of daily use.

In terms of ingredients, it contains:

✅ Centella asiatica - the company's flagship ingredient. A soothing ingredient, strengthens the skin barrier, reduces redness and is an antioxidant. In addition, the product contains fermented Centella asiatica, and the company's promise is that the fermented Centella acts like a vegan probiotic and contains antioxidants and ceramides.

✅ Glycerin - to moisturize. Glycerin is found in almost every cosmetic product due to its effectiveness and safety.

✅ Niacinamide - a favorite and popular ingredient that can help with moisture, strengthening the skin barrier, acne, brightening, balancing sebum production, and P. I. E.

✅ Adenosine - found in our skin naturally, and can strengthen the skin barrier, restore it and calm it down.

✅ Phytosphingosine- a type of lipid that can treat acne.

✅ Ceramide NP - strengthens the skin barrier.

✅ bakuchiol- an extract extracted from the bakuchiol plant, a plant used in Indian and Chinese medicine. They tend to compare it to retinol and call it the natural substitute for retinol, because they have shown many properties similar to retinol (but there is no chemical connection between them, and it is less studied than retinoids). Both bakuchiol and retinol encourage collagen formation and therefore can improve skin elasticity and treat and prevent wrinkles. It also has good results in the treatment of pigmentation and acne. In addition, bakuchiol does not tend to irritate the skin and can even calm the skin and improve redness, while retinol tends to be very irritating to some people.

✅ Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 - a peptide that is considered "Botox in a jar", because they do a similar action to Botox in reducing muscle movement. Keep in mind that it does not really replace Botox and there is a lot of marketing behind it, and it also appears as a last ingredient, which raises the suspicion that it is here in a very low percentage and is not effective.

✅ fragrance-free, drying alcohol or essential oils.

Overall I don't think it's a bad product and I don't think it can harm the skin. On the contrary, the ingredients are really excellent, *but* this is a completely normal cream and I don't understand why it is marketed for the eye area only. I would prefer that they bring it out in a normal size for the whole face and not just as an eye cream.

The brand is cruelty-free 🐰❤️
