Isntree Onion Gel Moisturizer

I received the onion series as a gift from my favorite Korean company - Isntree, and I was really excited to try!

I've been with the gel for a few months, since the weather got hotter and I felt the need to switch to something lighter under the sunscreen every day.

So what does it contain?

✅ 71% onion extract - not very scientifically based, but it is said that onion extract can help scars after surgery. That's why the branding of this series is for scars, but I'm a little skeptical about it. Onion is also antibacterial so can help a little with acne (I wouldn't rely on it as a main acne treatment).

✅ Niacinamide - a favorite and popular ingredient that can help with moisture, strengthening the skin barrier, acne, brightening, balancing sebum production, and P. I. E.

✅ Vitamin C derivative of the SAP type - a vitamin C derivative that is suitable and can even help acne skin. It is an excellent antioxidant, brightens, and encourages collagen production (only over 5%).

✅ tranexamic acid - a relatively new ingredient in the skincare world, but very promising. It is a ingredient mainly intended for the treatment of pigmentation and P. I. E (spots after acne). Another great advantage of it is that it is relatively non-irritating. Unfortunately, in this product the tranexamic acid is at the bottom of the list and therefore probably not in a high percentage (but it is not harmful).

✅ Turmeric extract - brightens, soothes, antioxidant, and balances the sebum production.

✅ Hotonia extract for doll - common in Chinese medicine. Soothes and restores irritated skin and is an antioxidant.

✅ Additional moisturizing and soothing ingredients such as panthenol, adenosine, and hyaluronic acid.

✅ Without drying alcohol, essential oils or fragrance.

The only thing that bothers me about the ingredients is that I don't know the percentages of vitamin C, niacinamide and tranexamic acid, and since the onion extract takes up most of the list of ingredients, I suspect that the other ingredients are at a very low percentage. That's why I wouldn't rely on the cream as vitamin C or tranexamic acid (but it's not harmful).

They note on their website that they tested it on 20 people and saw an improvement in skin redness, a more even skin tone, and fewer breakouts.

Its texture is a light gel. I think it will suit oily skin and even dry skin (like me) in the summer under protection. Can also be good for acneic skin thanks to the antibacterial ingredients, and also for a gentle lightening of P. I. E.

Bottom line, I think it's a cute gel for light moisture and maybe antioxidants, but I feel that many of the ingredients there were only put in as a gimmick, and I wouldn't expect miracles from it.
