I've tried over 15 different balms and oils for first cleansing, but this cleansing oil is very different from any other cleansing oil I've tried, because of the texture. Its texture is not really oily, it is not liquid, but it is also not solid like a balm, it is really a transparent gel.
It is based on macadamia oil, sunflower oil, squalane, and almond oil, and also contains cleansing ingredients, making it the first cleanser in the double cleansing method.
Besides the oils and cleaning ingredients, it contains other good ingredients such as:
✅ LHA - derivative of salicylic acid. It works similarly to salicylic acid - it does chemical peeling and regenerates the skin, and can penetrate the pores and clean them. The difference from salicylic acid is that its molecules are larger, which means that it penetrates less deeply (but also less irritating and drying). Additionally, LHA is more lipophilic than salicylic acid, which means it is more oil-soluble (ie, breaks down and cleans oil better than salicylic).
✅ 3 types of Centella asiatica extracts, porcelain extract, and allantoin - for soothing and restoring irritated skin.
✅ Chestnut extract - Isntree claims that it can give a smoother look to the pores, but I didn't find any information on the internet that backs it up. Elsewhere I read that in Asia it is used as antiaging, and there is even one article about the effect. In any case, I don't think it's a harmful ingredient, but I wouldn't expect too much from it, especially in a product that is washed off.
✅ fragrance-free, alcohol, or essential oils.
I recommend applying a little on the hand, warming between the hands, then massaging the face. After you have removed all the makeup and the sunscreen, add a little water and you will see that the cleansing oil emulsifies (changes the color and texture to a milky one), and continue massaging. Then you can move on to cleaning with soap.
At first I thought the cleansing oil was very gentle and I thought it wouldn't work well with heavy makeup (only sunscreen and light makeup), but I recently had 3 events in which I wore full face makeup with long-lasting makeup, and it was able to easily remove the makeup in each of the events.
It does not dry the skin at all (my skin is dry and I have acne). I think all skin types can love it.
The only thing with it is that if you don't clean well with soap afterwards you feel that a greasy layer remains. But really it's only for the better, because it forces me not to be lazy and clean properly 🙂
The brand is cruelty-free 🐰❤️
