Hanmi Pharmaceutical EGF Moisturizer

When I was in Korea I discovered a new section of products that cannot be ordered outside of Korea (not that I know of at least) - and that is the products from the pharmacies. The pharmacies have products with high concentrations and at a very accessible price. One of the products I took to try is this Nemi cream. It's a cream with 3 types of egf peptides.

Let's talk about EGF:

Everything written here is based on an article that brings together 49 other articles about EGF.

Most of the research on the ingredient was done in Korea, and then Japan and the USA.

EGF = Epidermal Growth Factor

It is a type of peptide that has the ability to encourage the proliferation of epidermal cells. An American biochemist named Stanley Cohen discovered it and received a Nobel Prize for it in 1986.

At the medical level:

✔️Promotes wound healing and can help restore burns.

✔️Can help encourage regrowth of hair after baldness from chemotherapy and treat dermatitis from chemotherapy.

On the aesthetic level:

✔️Increases the production of hyaluronic acid and encourages collagen production, and thus can help with wrinkles as well as their rejection.

✔️ Contributes to more moist skin.

✔️ Improves skin elasticity.

✔️Treatment of melasma (pigmentation) - a study proved that using EGF serum twice a day for 8 weeks reduced 73.4% of melasma without any side effects. This was studied on 44 people who used a serum with EGF on half of the face and a placebo on the other half of the face. After 8 weeks they saw a 73.4% improvement on the EGF side, compared to only a 13% improvement on the placebo side.

✔️ It can balance the production of sebum in the skin.

✔️Acne treatment - research has shown that EGF can help mild-moderate acne. The study was tested on 20 people with mild acne. Here, too, apply on half the face twice a day. After 6 weeks they saw a 25.4-33.5% decrease in acne on the EGF side. In the same study they also showed that the sebum production decreased. There were no side effects.

✔️Treatment of stretch marks - research has proven the effectiveness of EGF as a complementary treatment to laser for the treatment of stretch marks.

And what are the disadvantages?

➖The price - usually this ingredient is not cheap.

➖We do not know exactly the percentage recommended for use.

➖The main concern with this ingredient, that because it encourages the culture of cells, if you have skin cancer it can cause the cancer to spread faster. If you don't have skin cancer there is no reason to worry, but sometimes we don't know, so you should check with a dermatologist and of course make sure to apply sunscreen.

The same is true for psoriasis - if you have psoriasis it is best to avoid this ingredient, because it can cause the psoriasis to spread.

In conclusion, I think this is an ingredient that is not yet appreciated enough in the world of cosmetics and it definitely sounds very promising.

It is also found in Iconix Glow Respi, and in the Klairs Black Series.

Besides egf, it contains other good ingredients such as:

✅ Niacinamide - a favorite and popular ingredient that can help with moisture, strengthening the skin barrier, acne, brightening, balancing sebum production, and P. I. E.

✅ Glycerin - to moisturize. Glycerin is found in almost every cosmetic product due to its effectiveness and safety.

✅ Chamomile, rosemary, and centella asiatica extracts - soothing and antioxidant.

✅ Ceramide NP - strengthens the skin barrier.

✅ Adenosine - found in our skin naturally, and can strengthen the skin barrier, restore it and calm it down.

✅ Beta glucan - soothes and contributes to moisture.

✅ free of fragrance, alcohol, and essential oils.

All this goodness cost me only 46 shekels, which is insane for what you get. The downside is that it comes in a quantity of 20 ml, which runs out really quickly, but it's still worth it.

I've already finished one whole and I'm on the second. The applicator seems to be adapted to the eye area so I used it as an eye cream (but there is no objection to using it all over the face). The texture is pleasant and it is very moisturizing and suitable for the eye area. I can't testify to significant results because I use it mainly for maintenance and prevention, but if you're in Korea or know someone who's flying, in my opinion it's worth a try 💗
