Hypochlorous acid is an antiseptic that our body produces naturally as part of the immune system, in order to kill bacteria, viruses and diseases. What is special about it, unlike alcohol for example, is that it does not kill all bacteria indiscriminately. It is particularly effective against pathogens (harmful bacteria) but does not harm good bacteria colonies and does not harm the microbiome of the skin.
It has been used for medical purposes for years, but recently the use of hypochlorous acid for aesthetic purposes has become more popular, and more and more books with hypochlorous acid are produced.
The purpose of this product is to gently disinfect the skin of the face and prevent acne breakouts in places where there is more exposure to bacteria, or where it is not possible to clean the face, such as on a flight, after a workout, or in a public shelter (yes, I had many opportunities to try it recently😢). You can spray a little on the face even over make-up.
Another interesting use is to spray on objects such as on the pillow, on the makeup brushes or even on your LED mask, to disinfect gently.
My skin is acneic and from my experience it reacts very quickly to lack of hygiene. I tried the spray on several flights, and recently also between alarms in a public shelter (which you sweat in and it's suffocated and full of people), and I really got off really cheap in terms of breakouts. I got a few tiny pimples that went away quickly and that's all, so I believe it did help. It also does not sensitize at all, I used it several times a day and it felt like water on the face and nothing more.
The only downside in my opinion is that it comes in a large quantity that you can't get on the plane, so I had to transfer it to a spray bottle bottle. If they also had a smaller size it would be perfect.
