Dear, Klairs Midnight Blue EGF Serum

I purchased this serum at the official Deer Klairs store when I was in South Korea. I have been in love with Klairs products with EGF for many years, so much so that one of them is even in my profile picture. It's a relatively new serum they released and the saleswoman at the store convinced me to try it too.

In terms of ingredients, it contains everything good:

✅ Glycerin - a classic and very popular ingredient for moisturizing.

✅ Niacinamide - a favorite and popular ingredient that can help with a variety of skin problems such as: balancing sebum production, lightening spots, strengthening the skin barrier, reducing redness and even treating acne.

✅ Allantoin - a soothing and restorative ingredient.

✅ Adenosine - found in our body naturally and can help restore and strengthen the skin barrier.

✅ hyaluronic acid - to moisturize.

✅ Tea tree oil - a strong antibacterial essential oil that can help treat acne. I do not recommend it in high percentages because it can be very irritating and break the skin barrier, but it seems that in this formula it is in a low percentage.

✅ Turmeric extract - antioxidant and soothes the skin. There is a small study that showed that it can balance the sebum production (sebum).

✅ Capryloyl Salicylic Acid (LHA) - a gentle and oil-soluble derivative of salicylic acid, which helps gently exfoliate dead skin cells and clean pores. It works more slowly and more focused than regular salicylic acid and is therefore generally considered less irritating.

✅ Guayazolan - a ingredient that is produced from azolan and is soothing and anti-inflammatory. It can help reduce redness and skin irritations, and is also what gives the products a blue color.

✅ Gluconolactone - PHA. An acid that gently exfoliates, helps remove dead skin cells and also attracts moisture to the skin. Because of the size of its molecule, it penetrates more slowly and is considered gentler than AHA, so it is also suitable for sensitive skin.

✅ panthenol - pro-vitamin B5. A soothing and moisturizing ingredient.

✅ Green tea, heartleaf and Centella asiatica extracts - excellent antioxidants and soothe the skin.

✅ Some amino acids that can moisturize the skin and strengthen the skin barrier.

✅ SH-Oligopeptide-1- an EGF-type peptide - a peptide that improves skin regeneration.

✅ fragrance-free, drying alcohol, or essential oils.

Klairs really promises a lot in this formula. They promise improvement in acne, calming and reduction of redness, reduction in the sebum production, restoration of skin barrier, less black and white heads, less build-up of keratin, deep penetration of the serum into the skin, renewal of the skin, and reduction of pores.

It seems that they also really did a lot of testing on this product, but since this is internal company research, everything should be taken with a grain of salt.

I used the product every day and it lasted me for several months (there is an amount of 50 ml, which is more than an average serum). The texture of the serum is light and easily absorbed, but not too watery. It has a slightly herbal smell since it is fragrance-free.

My skin is dry by nature and I felt that it helps to improve the moisture in the skin, on the other hand my skin also has acne and I did not see any significant improvement in this respect.

My suspicion is that since there are so many ingredients, none of them are in a significant percentage. I still think it's a great serum for moisturizing and strengthening the skin barrier, but I wouldn't rely on it as a main product for acne treatment (maybe as a supporting product).

Note that they have another EGF serum (EGF Blue Youth Activating Drop) which I have already reviewed before and I really like. The difference between them is that the former is apparently more concentrated in EGF and intended for anti-aging and relaxation, and is really liquid like water. The new one is intended for other purposes (acne, moisture, and everything we talked about) and probably the EGF percentage there is lower. I personally like the previous one more, but it is also more expensive, so it's up to you.

The brand is cruelty-free 🐰❤️
