COSRX AHA Whitehead Power Liquid

First of all, what is glycolic acid?

glycolic acid is an acid from the alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) family and is the smallest among them, which means that it penetrates the best and most effectively (but also the least gentle). It is made from natural sources high in sugar such as sugar cane, pineapple, melon and grapes.

It chemically exfoliates the skin and helps shed dead skin cells and thus helps improve the appearance and texture of the skin, for example - acne scars, wrinkles, and keratosis pilaris ("strawberry skin"). Glycolic acid is also effective in the treatment of pigmentation and acne, and helps to make the skin look radiant and healthy. Glycolic acid can encourage the formation of collagen and thus prevent early wrinkles.

It is better to start with a low dose (eg 5%) and with a low frequency (2-3 times a week) and slowly increase the frequency and dose according to how your skin reacts.

The acid increases the sensitivity of the skin to the sun, so it is important to use sunscreen (although it is always important with or without the acid). You will start to see the real results from glycolic acid only after two or three months of persistence, so be patient 🤗

This Coserax toner contains 7% glycolic acid, which is an excellent and medium percentage. I have been using it every day for the last month and a half and I really enjoy it. It's completely watery so it's not heavy at all and can be combined under any routine (in terms of texture).

It is based on apple water which is an antioxidant that can also do gentle chemical peeling. It also contains niacinamide, panthenol and hyaluronic acid which can soothe the skin and give it moisture, and it is without alcohol/essential oils or fragrance.

My skin is very used to glycolic and I've been using it for years, so I can't testify to crazy results from it, but in general glycolic helps me a lot to smooth the texture of my skin and make it more radiant. It also helps to increase the penetration of ingredients so when I combine it with other active ingredients I see how it gives them a crazy boost and suddenly there are results (for example in pigmentation).

All in all, this is an excellent toner that I will recommend to those who are already somewhat experienced with glycolic and who do not have very sensitive skin.

The brand is cruelty-free 🐰❤️
