By Wishtrend, Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water

First of all, what is mandelic acid?

Mandelic acid is an acid from the alpha hydroxy family (AHA), like glycolic and lactic, a family of acids that chemically exfoliate the skin and help shed dead skin. It is produced from almonds. The difference between it and glycolic is that its molecule is larger and therefore it penetrates the skin less, which makes it more gentle and suitable for sensitive skin (but still effective).

In addition to the action of the chemical peeling, it is also antibacterial, so it can be an excellent addition to a skin care routine for acneic skin. It can also help treat pigmentation.

Note that AHA acids increase the sensitivity of the skin to the sun, so if you use them it is even more important to be careful with sunscreen.

By Wishtrend's toner contains 5% mandelic acid, which is a good percentage (not too high). In addition to mandelic acid, there are a variety of moisturizing and soothing ingredients for the skin:

Centella asiatica- soothing and restorative, antioxidant.

Houttuynia Cordata Extract- it also soothes and restores and touches oxidation.

Licorice - brightens, relaxes.

Beta glucan - soothing and hydrating.

Panthenol - soothing and moisturizing.

Without alcohol, fragrance or essential oils.

I started with it during the transition of seasons when my skin barrier was weak and I didn't want to overload it with the glycolic acid. I ordered the mini size and it lasted a lot of time - almost three months of daily use. I used every day in the morning but you can use in the evening. If you are starting with acids, I recommend starting once every 3 days to let the skin get used to it.

Before that I would use glycolic acid which is stronger, so I can't testify to any change personally. What's more, I expected not to feel the acid at all, but there were days when it tingled me a little.

In terms of texture, it is completely liquid. I didn't smell a particular smell.

Overall I think this is a great toner. I like the combination of the acid with soothing ingredients that will ease the side effects from it (even though it is considered mild). I will recommend it especially to those with sensitive skin, beginners with acids, or those with acneic skin.

The brand is cruelty-free 🐰❤️
